Great Falls--01531

This chute above the drop through Mather Gorge at Great Falls shows very nicely how the moonlight can help to isolate out the differing character of water depending upon how high and fast it flows. The water was very high and fast when this photo was taken. With the high flow rate, I anticipated a very bright white color to the water due to its high albedo. The yellowish tint is due to the silt suspended in the river water after it ripped through the agricultural lands upstream from Great Falls. Because all of the water reflected brightly, this photo took only about 7 minutes to take.
